VEO’s inaugural Little Makers STEAM Education Festival was a major success!
In the grand finale to VEO’s 55th Anniversary celebrations, VEO successfully held the inaugural Little Makers STEAM Education Festival in support of UNICEF HK’s “Cherish Water” charity campaign. The colourful educational event, held from 22 to 29 April 2021 to raise awareness of the global water crisis and climate conservation, kicked off with an Opening Ceremony attended by Guests of Honour and featuring diverse creations and performances by our K3 students from seven campuses. Guests of Honour attending the Opening Ceremony, including Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun-hung JP, Secretary for Education, the Government of the HKSAR, Ms. Judy Chen JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, and Ms. Guo Jing-jing, Ambassador of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, enjoyed a trilingual student-guided tour and detailed explanations of Festival showpieces. The Festival served as a golden opportunity to make an impact on a global issue while educating students in the importance of climate conservation. Together with donations from the VEO community, VEO joined forces with CTF Education Group and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group to raise HK$1 million for UNICEF HK’s campaign to support UNICEF’s various water-related measures. The Festival was also a valuable experiential learning journey for students during an extended period of remote learning. Embarking on a voyage of their own making, VEO students used their imagination as a compass to create unique, colourful and trilingual expressions of themselves and their hopes for a future world.
